HOW TO VERIFY IF YOUR STIMULUS CHECK IS IN THE MAIL

Why the delay?
If you have not previously provided the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with your bank account information for direct deposit of a federal income tax refund, they do not have the information necessary to directly deposit the stimulus funds into your bank account. Unless you provide the IRS with your bank account information before they mail your check, you may have to wait several weeks or months.
The United States Postal Service (Postal Service) will process and deliver an estimated 60 million checks from the U.S. Treasury Department, with 5 to 8 million pieces entering the mail system each week for approximately eight weeks. The Postal Service will also accept, process and deliver an estimated 81 million eligibility notices from the IRS for households that will receive economic impact payments as direct deposits into their bank accounts. It takes some time to print, process and deliver all those checks and elegibility notices.
Track your Stimulus Check
The IRS has been updating its portal in order to make it easier to obtain information regarding the status of the stimulus check and is also providing the latest information regarding any developments.
If you confirm through the "Get My Payment" application that your check has already been mailed, you may be able to track it through a very little known service from the Postal Service known as the Informed Delivery Program. As mail is sorted by the Postal Service through its automated mail sorting equipment, a digital image of the front of all letter-size mail is created and used to notify the recipients that a piece of mail is on the way. The stimulus checks and the elegibility notices will be delivered in letter-size envelopes!
